Get Help with Merit Badge Requirements
The Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts are building the Clearwater Project to protect local waterways by addressing aging infrastructure. The project includes a new 7-mile tunnel to reliably take cleaned water from the agency's largest wastewater (sewage) treatment plant to the ocean.
As part of the project's community engagement, we are seeking to inspire careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) by offering help with meeting merit badge requirements for the Boy Scouts of America and Girl Scouts of the USA through in-person tours of our wastewater treatment plants as well as our wildlife refuge at Bixby Marshland.
The Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts offer tours of their Joint Water Pollution Control Plant in Carson, CA.
Tours last approximately 1 hour. We welcome adults and children at least 10 years of age.
